RAGE Multiplayer.

RAGE Multiplayer.
ERROR: Your game version is not supported by RAGE Multiplayer.

(Steam / Epic Games / Rockstar Games).

Hello everyone.

As we all know, RAGE is being shut down following Take-Two/Rockstar's decision, and server owners have been encouraged to migrate their projects to FiveM.

I've been looking into the migration process and I'm particularly interested in projects that already had a large RAGE codebase and successfully moved to FiveM.

For example, let's take RedAge V3 / NeptuneEvo as a practical case.

My main question is:

When migrating a large RAGE gamemode to FiveM, what is the usual approach?

Do developers:

  1. Rewrite practically everything from scratch for FiveM?
  2. Keep the existing game logic/business logic and rewrite only the RAGE parts?
  3. Gradually port individual systems one by one?
  4. Or is there some kind of compatibility/abstraction layer that can make the process significantly easier?
For example, with a gamemode such as RedAge V3, there is obviously a lot of existing functionality:

  • character/account system
  • database structure
  • economy
  • jobs
  • vehicles
  • inventory
  • houses/businesses
  • factions
  • organizations
  • admin system
  • UI/CEF
  • missions/events
  • etc.
I understand that things directly dependent on GTANetworkAPI, NAPI, RAGE events, Client, Vehicle, ColShape, etc. cannot simply be copied to FiveM but can the higher-level game logic and database architecture be preserved and the platform-specific layer rewritten for FiveM?

And another question

For those who have actually migrated a RAGE project to FiveM, what resources do you recommend for FiveM development?

RAGE has communities such as RAGEMP.PRO where you can find ready-made gamemodes, scripts, systems, CEF interfaces, etc.

Is there an equivalent ecosystem for FiveM where you can find scripts and gamemodes like we do here on ragemp.pro or how does it works?

Thank you everyone in advance :)

Hi! Typically, devs tend to keep the higher-level game/business logic and database structure, then rewrite the platform-specific parts (events, entities, APIs) for FiveM. So it’s often a mix of options 2 and 3—porting systems step-by-step while adapting to FiveM’s API. There isn't a direct compatibility layer, so some rewriting is unavoidable.

For FiveM resources, the official forums (forum.cfx.re) and GitHub repositories are great places to find scripts and frameworks. There are also community-driven projects like ESX and vRP that provide solid starting points similar to RAGEMP.PRO’s ecosystem.

Good luck with your migration!

I’d start by porting one complete flow: login → load a character → buy an item → disconnect → restart the server → verify the saved balance and inventory. That will give you a much better estimate than counting converted handlers.

Use a separate database copy and separate credentials for the FiveM test server. Keep your existing account and character primary keys, and explicitly map the new platform’s identifiers to them. A connection’s player ID should not become a permanent account identifier.

For purchases and transfers, test repeated requests and disconnects halfway through. Check that you cannot get an item without payment, a duplicate item, or a second charge.
Also test spawning vehicles with no players nearby. FiveM distinguishes server RPC creation from server setter natives, so a bridge with matching method names does not necessarily preserve the original behaviour.
