Hi there,
As you may or may not have known, in late 2022, Rockstar Games, the developer and publisher of Grand Theft Auto V (the game for which our multiplayer modification RAGE Multiplayer was created) released their "RP Server Policy".
The "RP Server Policy" is their set of guidelines for the long-term integration of RP servers into their eco-system.
While it was initially planned to hand over the responsibility of compliance with the new policy to server operators; we have made the final decision to enforce the terms of the policy globally to ensure fair server competition for all server operators and communities.
We, therefore, recommend all the server operators immediately remove any real-world brands, such as (but not limited to) real-world cars, clothing brands etc, as stated in the policy.
To aid with this transition, we have generated a timeline in which these changes will need to be done:
1) You must remove all real-world brands from your user interfaces, websites and socials within a week of this announcement being released. - While we believe in your creativity, the rich world of Grand Theft Auto V already has lore-friendly alternatives for most brands - we recommend you check it out.
2) Your in-game modded assets must be reworked to fit the policy by the 16th of September - We understand how much time people have invested in adding content to the servers on our platform, however, we believe 4 whole months will provide you enough time to make the necessary changes. This will allow for a smoother transition for you and your players.
While migration is ongoing, you must keep your players informed about upcoming changes.
We will still be analyzing the rest of the policy internally to determine any further or potential impact on the community, so further announcements may follow.
Servers or communities which are found not to be following the new policy after each deadline may find action being taken against them.
We realize how difficult this might seem and while it might not be the news you were looking for, or expecting, we are still very thankful for the game developers, server owners and players themselves, who have invested their time to work or play on RAGE Multiplayer, generating interest and growing our community beyond anything we could have expected.
Thanks for your understanding and we look forward to seeing your servers compliant in the nearest future.
Addition from to the main text:
Going further, we also receive a lot of interest in the highly anticipated complete enforcement of local user_resources player game modding way deprecating the ability to edit original game files.
While we have already designed the server API to control player's modded game, we're doing extra optimizations to fully eliminate the overhead of such a validation on every game launch. In April, we have released a dozen QoL updates to improve overall user experience, solve conflicts with certain third-party software, and have put extra efforts into improving our infrastructure that have, amongst other factors, resulted in RAGE Multiplayer reaching new concurrent players peak at 1st May. We can now invest more time into the user_resources/user_resources API update, and, hopefully, it comes sooner now - stay tuned.
RAGE Multiplayer Team.
